Visitor Information

General admission to Fernbank Science Center is FREE! Parking is FREE!

The calendar and hours for science center vary throughout the year. Please confirm our hours of operation before your visit.   Please check our events calendar for special events and for days that the center is closed.

Tickets for the planetarium shows are sold 30 minutes before each scheduled show (See planetarium schedule).

Ticket prices for planetarium shows are $7.00 for adults, $5.00 for students and seniors. There is no charge for DeKalb County School employees, Planetary Society members and ASTC Passport members (please click here for additional information regarding ASTC members). Proper identification is required.

School groups (outside of DeKalb County) planning to attend a planetarium show should contact the scheduler, Audrey Poole, between the hours of 8:00 AM-10:00 AM and 2:00-4:00 PM, Monday through Friday at 678-874-7113, at least a week in advance of their planned visit. For more information please click here.  This does not apply to scheduled DCSD school groups.

During the summer (June and July) we ask that groups larger than 50 contact our scheduler at 678-874-7113. If your group is smaller than 50, then you do not need to contact the scheduler. Group discounts do not apply during the summer months.

Planetarium shows begin promptly as scheduled. Please use the rest rooms, before entering the show. For safety reasons and because the planetarium will be dark, re-admittance to the planetarium will not be allowed.

Food and drinks are not permitted in the planetarium or exhibit area.

No pets, except guide dogs, are allowed in Fernbank Science Center.

The facility does not have a gift shop or cafeteria to purchase food. Click here for a list of local restaurants.

Classrooms and labs are for educational purposes and are not available for parties.

Use of the on-site picnic tables is on a first-come, first-served basis and they cannot be reserved. Fernbank Science Center closes promptly at 5:00 pm. Please have all trash and other materials removed from the picnic tables by 4:30 pm so that the area can be cleaned and secured before the center closes. Thank you for your cooperation.

Due to limited space, groups larger than 30 are asked to consider using local parks for picnic lunches (Directions to local parks).

We ask our visitors to assist us in maintaining our clean and beautiful surroundings. Please put all waste material and recycling in the appropriate receptacle.

Fernbank Science Center is a non-smoking facility.
