FSC Media Center

The FSC media center offers a wide range of materials and services for the benefit of students, teachers and the public. The materials are available to anyone for reference use only. The print collection consists primarily of materials dealing with science and technology. Astronomy, botany, biology, ecology and horticulture are the "strengths" of the collection. Information is provided in a variety of formats: books, periodicals, and access to scientific articles through GALILEO (Georgia Learning Online). Sue Levine is a connected educator serving as the Teacher-Librarian at Fernbank Science Center and Warren Technical School. She has earned several recognitions including National Board Teacher Certification, Library Media Specialist of the Year (2014), a GAIT Technology Innovation Grant Award, and, most recently, she was selected to take part in a professional development opportunity as part of the Fulbright Distinguished Award in Teaching program in which she traveled to New Zealand from Feb-July 2016. While in New Zealand, Sue conducted a library inquiry project that investigated ways to create more inclusive and accessible school libraries for "special groups.”

Sue has 15 years of P-12 experience, seven of which she taught in the areas of Reading, ESOL, and Special Education. She also worked as an adjunct instructor at Georgia Perimeter College for over ten years teaching the foundation course, Research Skills and Applied Technology. She recently co-authored the article, “Power in Collaboration” GATEWays to Teacher Education, October 2015 with Dr. Phyllis Snipes of the University of West GA and 3rd grade teacher, Jennifer Pope M.Ed.

Sue serves as the Outreach Coordinator for HIP Africa, a grassroots school founded by Livingstone Kegode (Skype Master Teacher) in Western rural Kenya focusing on a global garden collaboration project and other student centered initiatives.
